“The Great Debaters”: Wednesday, July 23rd, 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor, Rev. Kershaw will lead a discussion on the film, “The Great Debaters.” A light meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. Denzel Washington directs and stars in this uplifting drama based on a true story about a small east Texas all-black college in 1935 that rises to the top of the nation’s debate teams in a duel against Harvard. We won’t be viewing the film so you might want to rent it if you haven’t already seen it.

All Church Picnic: Sunday, July 27th, 2:00 -? at two shelters near the playground area in City Park. Train rides, swimming, fishing and maybe a softball or volleyball game. See the Fort Collins Foxes baseball team at 6:00 p.m. Cost for the game is $5.00. Sign up in the Fellowship Hall to bring a dish for the potluck supper.
Summer Book Review: Rev. Schuster will review God is Not Great; How Religions Poision Everything by Christopher Hitchens on Wednesday, July 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor. A light meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. While we may not identify with the believers Hitchens describes, his wide-ranging knowledge, his brilliant writing and his attacks on religion will make for an interesting discussion.
Parent Child Book Discussion Group: July 30th, 7:00 p.m., The Cricket in Time Square, by George Seldon. Enjoy this book together with your child and then join us for a discussion group facilitated by Bev Halperin. Come share your insights with us.
Inspirational Movies: During August, the following movies will be shown in the Parlor on Sundays, 9:15-10:15 a.m.: Aug. 3 & continued on Aug. 10 -- “Though None Go With Me” and Aug. 17 continued on Aug. 24 & 31 -- “The Bucket List.” These thought-provoking movies will be followed with a group discussion. All adults are welcome. The Samaritan Class will not meet during August.
Methodist Young Men in Action: A new opportunity for active young men in their 20’s and 30’s to find fellowship in the church through fun and meaningful activities.
